What is Evaporative Cooler & How it works?

If you live in a hot climate and want to keep your home cool without using an air conditioner, you may want to consider an evaporative cooler. These coolers are a great way to keep your home cool without using a lot of energy, but they do have their own unique set of instructions. Here are a few tips to help you get the most out of your evaporative cooler.

How does an evap cooler work?

The evaporative cooler works by using a fan to blow air across a wet pad. The water evaporates as the air blows over it and cools the air. This air is then blown into your home through a vent in your house.   Evaporative coolers can be used in both dry and humid climates. In dry climates, the cooler will use less water than an air conditioner because it doesn't need to lower the humidity of the air. However, it may need to run more frequently to keep your home cool on hot days.

In humid climates, the cooler will use more water than an air conditioner because it needs to remove moisture from the air. It may only need to run every few hours or so on hot days. There are two different types of evaporative coolers, single-speed and multi-speed. Single-speed coolers have a fan that blows air across the pads at one speed. Multi-speed coolers have a switch that allows you to select different speeds for the fan. This allows you to use a lower speed when the humidity is high, or a higher speed when the weather is hot and dry.

When you install your evaporative cooler, make sure it's in an area where it can blow directly on your house. The cooler should be no closer than 20 feet from your house, but no more than 40 feet away. If you put the cooler too close to your home, it won't be able to cool it sufficiently.

If you put the cooler too far away, it won't be able to blow enough air into your home.  Don't place plants in front of your evaporative cooler. The plants will absorb the moisture from the air and will make it harder for the cooler to do its job.  Evaporative coolers are a great way to keep your house cool during the hot summer months without using a lot of energy. Just follow these simple tips to get the most out of your evaporative cooler.
